Staring up at the blinking stars
A cruel reminder that tonight
Is our last night
Staring at the same night sky.

Frozen hands held together
By biting cold
And endless time
Must be cracked and broken

The red string that holds us together
Stretched to its limits
Almost snapping
From the strain of distance.

These cruel reminders
Of the painful ordeals
People must face each days
As the lines of fate are drawn.

Everyone gets torn apart
Some how, some way
But ours is the most cruel
For no one knows the outcome

No one knows how we will end up
In shambles or closer together
It is unknown and undecided
Until the end.

These stars that twinkle with
Such a melancholic light
Will remind me until the very day
That your return to me

How cruel fate is
How time and distance
Can affect a single person
In earth shattering ways

These stars
And the biting cold
Will remind me of your promise
To return to me, safe.

Our strained and stretched red string
On the verge of breaking
And covered in frozen tears
Will remain attached even if it shall break

Forever wrapped around my heart
Never to be unwound or untied
Never to fade like the stars
And to never warm like the bitter cold

Forever will I love you
And no matter how cruel fate shall be
You will be beside me
Forever tied to my heart.
