Problems

Gently tapping out a rhythm,
A rhythm you would enjoy
But, I can't play too loud.
I don't want to wake you
From your precious sleep.

The sound of the waves
Keeps time as it plays with your hair,
So dark and fine,
Like the person
Who sired you.

Shhh... Don't cry now,
Daddy will be fine.
My sweet child
Covered in blood
Trying to crawl away.

Don't cry.
Both of you
Try not to look so blue.
You'll be together again
In the vast sea.

Let the sand and salt wash over you.
You always loved the ocean.
You said you wanted
To die here,
Am I right?

Be gentle now
Great and vicious mother.
Please treat my babies kindly,
Like you have done for the others.
Open your arms for them too.

Stain the white sand red
With your pool of life.
Back to where you started.
Back to the ocean,
The ocean of the dead.

Hush my darlings
There is no need to scream or cry.
Daddy and me will watch
As you return
To your true mother.

Lose yourself in the rhythm of the waves.
Close your eyes
And fall asleep.
To the crashing waves
And echoing sirens.

Nothing kept hidden...
