A long time ago
I remember walking down this very path
In a past life from
Long ago
We were holding hands
Laughing and grinning
Like the blind fools we were
During the spring time
How come such memories
Remain suppressed
In the very back of our minds
Until the end of time?
It was 1998
And the lights were beaming
In the city
Where we were once walking
Gentle footsteps
With the merry go round
Playing in the background
Carried on the wind
How come we have to remember
Such cruel things
From lives long gone
As the heart flutters
I can still remember
Your smiling face
And your hair wrapped around your face
With the merry go round playing
How could we be so blind
To the unfolding events
That would lead to a new life
In this very spot
We were holding hands
And slowly walking down this very ally
Where both our lives so drastically changed
In the spring of 1998
The merry go round seems so haunting
With the shimmer gold ring
Just out of my reach
Glittering in the yellow light
Everyone reaches for the ring
Just like you did that very night
Trying to catch their hopes
And maybe even their dreams
But it eludes them
Just like the very reason
Why we were so blind
On that spring night in 1998
The merry go round
Plays in the background
Reminding me of past lives
Slowly slipping away
Everything turns hazy
But one thing remains in my mind
Crying out a melancholy melody
From the far corners of my memories...
The faint melody of the merry go round
Telling me to hurry
Like it did on that night
In the spring of 1998.
