Problems

Alone I stand
In a brown-hued world
Surrounded by this world
That doesn't seem quite right

Through a clouded sky
The sun shines
Though it is not the sun
I know

The world has ended
As it seems
I am surrounded by nothing more
Than rubble and skeletal buildings

As my gaze shifts elsewhere
I find a wall
Made of flesh and bone
Stretching across the horizons

Something within me
A nagging voice
Tells me this thing
This thing is alive

As terror begins to rain
From the sky
I run to hide
Only to find I'm not alone

Two familiar faces
Stare up at the sky
Even though
The terror is behind us now

What happened next
I will never forget
As a multitude of voices
Begin to speak

They do nothing but scream
Scream in wordless rage and pain
A cacophony of hatred
Being spewed from the sky

The screaming dies down
So that only three words
Could be spoken
By the voices

They were boys! It says
Emitting an alien screech
As the sentence finishes
And the noise echoes in my brain

Suddenly I realize
What the voices were coming from
A marionette of sorts
An army of monstrous puppets

What happened next though
I would never know
For I sat up right
Safe at home

Just another nightmare
From the land of dreams
Safe in the world I left
Before I went to sleep

The same world as I left it
Not brown-hued or destroyed
Just the normal world
As I left it

Nothing kept hidden...
